So Michael Jackson announced his final tour dates to take place in London town, at the O2, which is the old Millennium Dome for anyone who cares. "This is it" proclaimed the banner, the end of the road "the curtain call". His last shows, for London anyway. And what a shockingly mad journey it's been for the plasticised one. We all know about his weird 'misadventures' that have gone on over the years, the scandals, the marriages, the obsessions, the plastic fantastic mighty morphing journey, the babies dangling from balconies, the sleepovers, ranch, the chimp, the general creepiness...A remarkable achievement for one man. Like the crazed imaginings of a deluded madman writ large, only far more surreal than anything the human imagination - even that of a feverish deranged schizophrenic - could come up with. Praise be to his unhinged, untouched, unbalanced dementedness.
But in all this madness let's not forget his singular achievement at inspiring some truly epic moments of internets glory. Influencing everyone from Filipino prisoners to a bunch of squirrels. So without further ado, here's his top ten internets moments:
1. Filipino prisoners
An international mega-hit sensation wonder-thrill! 1500 prisoners, one dressed in a lovely halter neck top, earrings and some blue jeans, get their zombie on! The rest are in orange jumpsuits looking like the Gitmo residents, only the music torture has backfired in this instance.
2. Squirrel Boogie
A bunch of woodland rodents with bushy tails get their freak on to MJ's Wanna Be Starting Something. Who knew that squirrels had the funk of forty thousand nuts.
3. Super Jacko Bros.
Super Mario gets the MJ treatment, as MJ moonwalks his way through the gaming classic that is Super Mario Bros. So there's lots of yeeee-heeee and wooooh-hooo! What would the moustachioed Italian sink un-blocker make of it all? He'd probably just think it was Luigi being a dick again.
4. Thriller Killer
A creative French man uses 64 a capella tracks of him singing Thriller and overlays them to create this weird, yet inspired take on this classic. 20 out of 10 for effort, creativity, and ze French accent. C'est magnifique!
5. Asian Thriller
Truly bizarre, yet epic and eternally rewarding. Watching it is like having someone inject a syringe of pure madness straight into your cerebral cortex. Every time I watch I start to feel a nervous anxiety overtake my whole body before I have to leap from my seat and run off into the distance laughing manically.
6. Thriller Wedding
And why not, the usual wedding dance can be a cheesefest of epic proportions. So to have your wedding party shuffle across the dance floor like flesh eating zombies before breaking out into a seemingly spontaneous thriller dance is awesomeness to the power of awesome. High ten!
7. Voldo's A Smooth Criminal
Who better than Voldo to perform Jacko's Smooth Criminal, the fighting game's equivalent of the Single-Gloved One, he's a pixelated incarnation of MJ's weird behaviour. The tinge of perversion, the slight inhuman creepiness, plus the fact he can dance like a mutha-f#cker. Shamoan!
8. Best Fancy Dress Outfit EVAR!
Well this guy seems to have hit all the right buttons in his depiction of 1980s MJ. The single white glove, the white socks and the short black trousers revealing those. The sunglasses, the hat and of course the little kid attached to his groin (or is it Bubbles?). But where's the coca-cola can full of wine?
9. Michael Jackson Idol
He does inspire some very obsessed oddball fans who are as strange as he is. Here's one trying out for the Malaysian Pop Idol. After watching it you'll want Bubbles the Chimp to come and chew your ears off so you never have to listen to something quite so hideous ever again...
10. Keyboard It
Nerdcore goes pop! A bunch of IT Support geekoids get on their keytar and bust it out to Beat It. A marvellous display of nerdom, after this performance they were quickly ushered back into their mommmy's basement before the sunlight started to burn their pale, translucent skin. The one thing they do have in common with MJ.
