Top Ten Most Wanted Games of 2012

Blog Jul 26, 2012

The releases we're most excited about for the rest of 2012!

We're really spoilt, you know. As gamers we've never had so much choice before. It's both overwhelming and expensive! Not sure what to spend your money on the rest of the year? We'll tell you what we're waiting for, and you can decide whether or not you agree with us!

GAME: Resident Evil 6 - 2nd October
HYPE: ERRRRRRRGH! BRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAINS!
KB PREDICTION: Normally, we'd be pretty stoked that a new Resident Evil game was approaching, but after seeing the demo, we're not too sure. General reaction to gameplay has been largely negative, and going by what we've seen, we're not about to disagree. Still, Capcom have managed to pull a trick out the hat at the last minute before, so we'll reserve judgement until we get our grubby paws on it.

GAME: Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 - 13th November
HYPE: Locked and loaded with the funny eye make up on and everything.
KB PREDICTION: Call of Duty is a somewhat tired formula by now, but it never changes because it works so bleedin' well. Expect another shorter than average campaign, and a frustratingly addictive multiplayer experience, full of squeaky voiced teenagers!

GAME: Darksiders 2 - Late 2012
HYPE: You better be hyped, it's the horsemen of the apocalypse baby!
KB PREDICTION: Darksiders was a massive success; satisfying hack and slash done to it's absolute best. Set in the same time period of the first, Darksiders sees you leave War at home to make the tea, while you kick some ass in the rotting shoes of Death. Loot is probably the biggest addition thus far to DS2, ranging from 12 different armor piece categories, which can have different enchantments and may power up Death's Wrath Powers.

GAME: Sleeping Dogs - 14th (NA), 16th (AUS), 17th (EU) August
HYPE: Crazy
KB PREDICTION: We don't know how those dawgs are sleeping, because (arguably) the most interesting thing to happen at E3 this year was the unveiling of Sleeping Dogs. Ubisoft are looking to clean house in 2012, and this open world crime drama will be the ace up their sleeve!

GAME: Borderlands 2 - 18th (US), 21st (UK) September
HYPE: Get ready to joy puke your face off!
KB PREDICTION: Borderlands had an original take on FPS with including character building, and Borderlands 2 looks set to build on that. Throw in 87 Bazillonder guns (870 Gajillion apparently), a whole host of characters, and some slick cell shaded goodness means that Borderlands 2 will appeal to many!

GAME: Assassin's Creed 3 - 30th (NA), 31st (EU) October
HYPE: So hyped, no amount of crowd blending will hide us.
KB PREDICTION: By this point in time, you know if you love Assassin's Creed or not. Suffice to say that if you don't, you're wrong. Just plain wrong. From AC2 onwards, Ezio was flawless (not mentioning the first multiplayer), and was loved by many for good reason. Connor Kenway will be our assassin this time around, and those who dislike Desmond will be pleased to hear his story comes to an end! Expect the opportunity to kill lots of British folk, thanks to it being set during the American Revolution. Glee!

GAME: Far Cry 3 - 29th (EU), 30th (UK) November, 4th December (NA)
HYPE: We're not looking to holiday on any tropical islands!
KB PREDICTION: The Far Cry games have always pushed boundaries; the first one with its incredible graphics and gorgeous open world environment, and the second with an impressive presentation of Central Africa and gripping story. The third sees you play as Jason Brody, and attempt to escape from a series of islands and their mental inhabitants!

GAME: Hitman Absolution - 20th November
HYPE: Rabid
KB PREDICTION: Having been fans of Agent 47 since his first outing on PC all those years ago, we're massively looking forward to getting our professional kill on again. Gameplay videos look promising, perhaps a slight change from Hitman of old, but definitely in a positive sense. We're sure we can handle it!

GAME: Halo 4 - 6th November
HYPE: Dude. It's Master Chief. Even your granny is hyped.
KB PREDICTION: Everyone's favourite Spartan is back, but this will be his first time teaming up without Bungie, who made him so well loved in the first place. However, we have faith in 343 Industries to not break our hearts into a thousand pieces. John-117, we believe in you!

GAME: GTA V - Q4 2012 (hopefully)
HYPE: Ridiculous
KB PREDICTION: You'd have to be pretty crazy to not envision GTA V being a) awesome, b) massive, and c) massively awesome. Rockstar are yet to put a foot wrong with the GTA series, and with the trailer and two screens available at the minute, it's looking like they're set to continue that trend. It'll be awesome to set foot in San Andreas once again. Wonder if we'll run into CJ?
