it's to keep the hose from dragging on the dirt and ruining the level field. it's not that complicated. plus, the hoses are pretty heavy, and one person pulling the whole thing is difficult.

screw level dirt we either played in the potholed abandoned parking lot or the park with just as many holes and rocks in the turf. And we did it for free
