The coxwain ( the person at the back ) is much smaller than the oarmen so she ( yes its a she in this case ) can not see the pole as they block her view...and the coach is not usually in boat.

well considering a was actually a pole, i know that when you are out there, you don't listen to the coach. i know that might seem wierd but you are trained not to listen to the coxwain, it certainly wasn't the poles fault for not paying attention

Yeah, in the "complete" version of the video, with the oars all busted on one side of the boat, it took them quite some time to get back to shore. They went in circles for what it seemed like eternity...

In their defense, when you're exerting yourself THAT much, along with the considerable noise of your coach yelling at you to row faster and that of all the oars slapping the water, it was hard for 'em to hear the warning. Was the dumbass coach

Well considering i was actually in rowing, i know that when you are out there rowing you dont listen to the coach. i know that might seem weird but you are trained to listen to the coxwain. it was her fault for not paying attention.
